I tried to register for a new account, only to realize that I had already created one several years ago. Now that I've moved to a new location (Albany, NY) I figured I could try to see if there is anyone on the forum in the area. I'm looking forward to getting in the tri scene. Send me a message if you're in the area!

Hi and welcome!

I grew up in the Albany area and still have family there so I get up from time to time.

Pick out any races yet?

I signed up for the American Zofingen Long Course Duathlon (5run, 84bike, 15run) in New Paltz. I'm also planning on the HMRRC Winter Marathon in 2 weeks. So far I like the area, tons of great running routes and a lot more hills than I'm used to!

Hi,
I am an hour's north of Albany, near Lake George. When the nice weather comes, I train in the lake. Would love to meet to train!

I'm originally from saratoga springs and you'll find the training terrain up there to be exceptional.  I'm on Long Island now and other than OWS, the training sucks here.

I'm in the Saratoga area as well.  Just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Good luck at the HMRRC marathon!  I was thinking about doing that one this year too but ended up with other races on the calendar.

Went to RPI and got married in Albany, but not there now. However I am trying to be at (not racing) the American Zofigen Duathlon as I am making the trophy to honor Chris Gleason for which the race is being renamed.

Lake George looks like a great area to train. I'm thinking of doing the HIM up there in the fall only because I'm a bit of a masochist and I love hills. I'd enjoy getting a feel for the area before the race, so I may message you so you can show me some routes in the area when the weather gets nice!

I've heard such great things about Chris, it seems like he had friends all over the area. He even messaged me over on another forum telling me to contact him when I moved out here so he could show me some training grounds and introduce me to some people, he definitely made a great impression on me if only through a message on a forum.

Hopefully you can make it to the race, from what I hear the atmosphere is one of a kind.

my brother-in-law grew up with Chris Gleason and from just a few stories he has told me, the man is not only deserving of a race named after him, but probably a school.  It is apparent that he made that much of an impact.
