I recently got a Felt B16, and purchased a beginner trainer for it.  Just wondering what everybodies opinion was on using the same back tire to ride on the road and on the trainer.  Is that a good idea?  Should I get a different tire to ride on the trainer?  If not what type of wear and tear with the trainer do to the back tire?

It will wear faster but should be fine for a season (depending on how much you ride indoors).  Unless you have a different wheel to put the tire on, not going to do you much good unless you plan on changing the tire out every time you ride in/outdoor.  If you do have a wheel, just use an old tire

Just keep an eye on it

you can do it, but it will KILL your tire.  I would ask a friend or a shop for a worn out tire to use.

It depends on the tire and the trainer, as some trainers are harsher on the tires than others, in part because of the heat. I use my regular Gatorskins on my KK Road Machine, and the tires hold up just fine, but I think that the KK stays cooler than most.

I went to the shop and asked for a scrap junk tire. I bought a cheap rim and cassette and use it strictly for the trainer.Ive burned through a n few nice tires by putting them on the trainer.

thanks for the info.  I can use my tire and rim from my old bike.  The trainer is a bell mag, I know it's not the best, but I was able to pick it up for $25.  I figured it would due until I have the money to find a decent used one.  On that note what are some of the nicer trainers that I could pick up for cheap used.  The guys at my LBS told me about cycleops but they were pretty expensive last time I checked.
