Summited Kilimanjaro

Been submerged on a US Submarine

SCUBA diving

Sky diving

Climbed a pilot ladder onto a US vessel in 10-15 ft seas in the East China Sea (ok, descending the ladder was much harder!)

Learned to lead climb

Surfed and snowboarded in the same day

Headed to Everest Base Camp in 2013 if anyone is interested in coming along

Learned to lead climb

The important question is - trad or sport?

Sport. I've learned how to set anchors for trad, but haven't had the equipment to try it for real

Cool stuff.  It's sort of a game changer when you're on the sharp end.  I can get freaked out descending on my bike, but I've got brakes.  When you're a few feet above that last bolt, no brakes.

Hopefully one day I will be able to add marriage and kids, but to this point in my life it has been:- Spending 3years as a backpacking/experiential education guide- Backpacking in New Zealand for a month, topped off with bungee jumping in Queenstown- Doing wardrobe for Kenny Loggins

During class they had us take falls to simulate missing clipping in at a bolt.... meaning the last bolt was around my shins... WWWHHHHEEEEEEEE!!!! Really, really gotta trust that belayer.

Visited Mexico City a few years back, went to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan (1-200 AD), walked to the top of both, that was a workout!   Traveled to Alaska to speak at a technical conference (Alaskan Water/Waste Water Assoc.) in 2007 and had a chance to talk to Lance Mackey during dinner.  He's a 4 time Iditarod winner, the only one to win 4 in a row.

I know...first post...but long time lurker..

This thread is amazing and wanted to add mine:

Breastfed my youngest daughter. A miracle of adoption.

Very cool I always wondered if anyone was able to do this. Probably very rare but glad to see that it does happen.

Wow, this group continues to amaze and inspire me.

1) I have been married to my wife for nearly 25 yrs. It hasn't always been easy, but she is the most awesome person I know. Nothing I ever do will match this. I can only hope to have another 25 that come close to the first 25.
2) Raised two lovely young ladies, one of which will be getting married to a nice young man this year.
3) Opened a business partnership at the age of 22, took over the business at the age of 27.
4) Sold that business, moved the whole family back to home ,and went back to school to get my degree in CIT. The 24 year plan may be a bit much, but perseverence is more important.

First thing that comes to mind for me is bowling in a tournament or league under pressure in the 10th frame.  I needed to hit at least 2 strikes in a row or sometimes 3 and successfully take the win away from an opposing team.  Whenever I made that happen I felt so gratified with my ability to execute good shots in all that pressure.  =)

I escaped from a police station in college.  Underaged drinking bust at a large house party...they were processing us when I drunkenly slipped out the front doors without being noticed.  It was a paranoid 2 hr walk/ run back to campus.

Didn't get married until I was 36.  My wife had 2 sons.  We adopted 3 kids from Russia when I turned 40 (met them for the first time on my birthday).  Since then we have welcomed into our family 8 exchange students.  Oldest step-son had our first grandchild.  She is now 4 years old.  We just added a new addition last week. 17 year old family member whose parents are going thru a bad divorce.  He wanted to spend time with a normal family (us?). 12 years of adventure, looking forward to more.

This is why my husband loves bowling anchor, he's good at striking when it really counts.

If any of you get a chance to SCUBA dive do it.  I've hand fed sharks, which is really intense.  Nothing more nerve racking then jumping off a boat surrounded by sharks waiting for food.  I dropped to the bottom (safety) like a boat anchor.

I also dove with whales and dolphins many times.  Don't touch, it's illegal and costly.

Sat in a crashed Jap Zero plane from WWII (off coast of Pearl Harbor) at roughly 125 feet.

Deepest dive was 415 feet.

I rode the USS Constellation Aircraft Carrier from Pearl Harbor to San Diego as a guest of my brother.  That was an amazing experience.

Somebody mentioned Everest.  I have a dream of climbing that.

I SCUBA dove at 50 feet after 30 minutes' training (dumb, but oh so cool) in Antigua.

I taxied, took off, and flew an airplane. The instructor landed it. Definitely want more lessons.

I gave birth.

I feel so boring after reading some of these. I do have a 10 heard old little girl that I'm very proud of, seeing her happy and knowing that Im being a good dad is a pretty cool thing I guess! Other than going to some cool places and doing some fun things, I don't have much else in the mind blowing cool department....one day though I'm gonna wow some people!

- At 26 years old I packed up my life and move to Australia where I didn't know a single person. It's been over three years and I still love it here! (You really can't beat the weather).

- Diving in Borneo with sharks and barricuda and a whale shark in Bali

- backpacking around Europe by myself for three months and SE Asia for another two
