Does anyone have the Saris Bones bike rack?  If so, do you like it?  Is it safe for carbon bikes?

Thanks

I have Saris Bones RS rack that mounts on the trunk and every time I use I am glad I spent the extra money. It takes less than a couple minutes to mount the rack and bike and is rock solid driving down the road. It's not cheap but if you use it alot it makes life a little easier .

Great rack. Use it for both my carbon road bike and mountain bike. Easy on and off

We have 2 for our police bikes. They are quite versatile if mounted correctly. much nicer than the cheap metal kind.

I just got one and am trying to figure out how to get the fork from turning. It won't quite fit in he bottom strap any other suggestions?

I have the Saris Bones 2 bike rack. Be careful when tightening the bottom strap if you have a trunk. The metal piece that allows you to adjust the length of the strap will dig into your trunk paint.

This has happened to me twice. The second time I knew of the potential problem and I still accidentally scratched my paint.

For the record, I always felt my bikes were secure when mounted on the rack.

I just bought a new car and I've decided to buy a hitch mount rack to avoid scratching my paint.

I have a Yakima trunk rack that I use in the US, and a Saris Bones 3 that I keep at my parents' place in the UK. The Saris Bones is definitely preferred. Very nice, and folds down compactly.

For the issue of metal fasteners digging into the paint on the car, we got a small piece of the rubbery material that you put under a rug to stop it from slipping, and made a bunch of little patches to go between the car and the fasteners. Works great.

no one has had any issues with it bending the trunk etc? This is the rack that im looking at and really have seen no negatives. I guess the road bikes are so light it probably would not be enough to bend

I'd always been paranoid with my Bones because for my car it's mounted on my Outback's rear hatch. On top it's hooked to a plastic air foil sort of thing and on the sides to a frameless glass panel. Saris recommends against both of these, but I never actually had a problem with it. Would I recommend this rack for use on an Outback? No, but I highly recommend this rack. (I ended up replacing it with the Bones version for a trailer hitch)
