Subject: Newbie's first bike ride w/clipless pedals!!
Today was my first bike ride with my clipless pedals! (It should have been last Saturday, but I devoted it to working on stopping and unclipping....fell 4 times and cursed the whole idea of being clipped onto my bike). So today I went on my first ride....wow, it was amazing!! I felt like a kid again! All of those months on the trainer I forgot how wonderful it feels to ride a bike outside! Plus I did not fall, yippee!!

Now I just need to figure out what gears I need to be in! Oh well, it was a blast being out there. To everyone on their bikes this weekend, have a great ride!

Abbie

I think we all could rememeber that first time clipping in only to fall off when coming to a stop.

I now feel naked if I'm not clipped into my bike. Hmm...there's an idea...

I don't think biking naked would be a good idea, especially if you are clipped in.  Make that would be one bad case of road rash.

CONGRATS on your 1st clipless ride, Abbie--and for keeping it upright.

Now get out there again and figure out those gears. LOL!

Cheers,

Congrats Abbie!!!

After a winter of trainer rides, what a feeling of rediscovering HILLS, HEAD WIND, HAMSTRINGS, "Oh, that's what the lower back feels like after 16 miles of bumps?"

I don't worry about tipping over while on a road ride.  It's the tipping over AGAIN while on the trainer.      Did that crash in the living room one morning.

Well done
I went through this about a month ago and I love my clipless pedals. It took me a couple of weeks to work out how to use the gears properly (my old bike had them on the down tube) but I love everything about my bike now (and my family are sick of hearing it!)

that's great news, ecspecially the part where you didn't fall, i can relate to your story totally, been there done that...all i can say it gets better

but about the whole gear thing i'm leaning about that now, so good luck to you and enjoy!
