BrianRunsPhilly - 2012-05-18 9:56 PM Good luck everyone. Beautiful weather for racing.

Thanks.  It was really a well run event.  It was my first, so I don't have much to compare it to...it seemed very well organized.

The weather was beautiful.

My goal was to break 1:30 and I think I did it in just under 1:27 which is not too shabby for my first sprint at age 47.

How did the rest of you like it??

p.s. anyone know why the results are not posted yet??

Congrats, Doug, thats a great time How was the swim?

Swim was ok. I had gone out to blue marsh 2 weeks earlier to get some OWS practice. My friend bumped me and showed me how to sight etc so I felt prepared.

I did not pay attention to my time but I suspect it was ok but lots of room for improvement.

Thanks for asking. Like I said, the whole thing was a blast and I want more!

I hear ya! Feel so excited I'm gonna do Hammonton next week. My youngest lives out that way, so I should be done by the time he wakes up and we can have brunch. No chance getting him up to volunteer.

I did an OWS the last 2 weekends and it makes a huge difference. Yesterday was the first time ever I did a mile continuously in open water, so now I'm less worried about both Philly and my HIM later this year.

Cool.  Yeah, I can understand how some folks panic in the OWS their first time.  Practice helps.

BTW I checked my swim time and it was 12:21 for 500 Yards...not great but better pace than I had been at 2 months ago.  The good news is I have lots of room for improvement!

Great work this weekend to everyone who raced!

I would say that the timing for the swim is a little off and here is how I come up with that:  A friend of mine and I swam together for the whole swim, as we got out of the water, he told me our time and by the time we got to the timing mat, we were about a minute beyond that time so I would say take off a good minute to 1.5 minutes from your time on the swim to get you true swim time. You then need to add that time on to your T1 to get the true time to transition etc.

Regardless, of your time, you sill finished the race! That's the #1 goal in my book! Congratulations to you all!

What does everyone have coming up for races next?

Mike, was your time just off on the swim, or overall?  The time I had on my watch from the start of my wave to the finish line was 1 - 1.5 minutes less than my official time.  I figured I made a mistake, because I had a rough race and was focusing more on other issues rather than the clock, but now that you bring this up, it makes me wonder if they based the official time on the scheduled wave start times rather than allowing for starting a little late.

Just on the swim from what I could tell...Out of the swim I was told from my buddy that When the gun went off for our wave until we got out of the water it was 6:30, we hit the timing mat and on the results have a 8:05/6.  Overall time on the results page was correct though. I deducted the time as I cross of 4 minutes (2 minute difference per wave) and got the same time as shown on the results. Does that make sense?

In case anyone was wondering, the photos from the race are now posted on the PBC sports photography website.

The website is http://portraitsbycris.com/

In case anyone wants to see my dorky body, put in bib number 21.

I peeked. At least you're smiling and don't have that "WTF was I thinking" look.

Most of my race photos look like I'm about to give birth and/or hemorrhage.

Thanks.  My daughters say I look dorky.  My wife says I look too skinny.
