Anyone doing Xterra Hickory Knob?

I am familiar with the area, but this is the first time an Xterra race will be held here. Just wondering how much interest there actually was in the race.

I would have but Xterra Yargo, Georgia is the following weekend and much closer to me in Atlanta.  FYI, Xterra Clemson SC at the end of June just popped up as a first year event too so I am about 75% sure on that one landing on my schedule. 

The Race group putting on Clemson is GoneRiding, who has done Xterra Yargo/Tsali NC and a bunch of mtn bike races in the area so is legit.

As far as attendance/interest, tough to know given it is a first year event but is capped at 200.  Yargo was something like 75-100 for the past couple of years and has been around for a bit.  Purely guessing 50-100 for Hickory Knob.  Looks like a cool venue.

Xterra Guam has been around for several years, but normally draws a small crowd. So far we have 114 signed up for this year's race. The crowd includes a few pro-triathletes though that are coming from around the world!

Im going to keep a close eye on this as I am looking for my first race of the year. OP, could you post a link to the race website? 

And, McQ if you could post a link to the Xterra in Clemson that would be appreciated as well....

Thanks for the detailed response! I wasn't sure how many people to expect and your response helps me get my head around it. I will def. check out the race in Clemson in June. I had planned on doing the Tri the Parks series triathlon at Mistletoe State Park around that time, but this is definitely worth looking at.

Hope it makes it...the two most local Xterra races around here have closed up shop and didn't come back for 2012.  Pretty disappointed as my preference is Xterra, but some areas they don't seem to get the numbers for them to continue.

Glad to hear you will be attending. I was actually given your name and contact information not too long ago to contact you concerning some swim coaching. I have not managed to get with you, but would love to talk with you about getting some triathlon specific swim training in the future. I only started swim training about two months ago and took some lessons at the Family Y to help me out a little. I only took two lessons as I felt it wasn't doing me much good as it pertains to triathlon training. Hope to you see you in McCormick, SC.
