Sunny
Total Time = 38m 23s
Overall Rank = 85/211
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 15/21
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and felt dehydrated and hungry. Ate a banana and just before the start ate a GU.
Event warmup:

Waded into the water stretching as I went and then swam a few strokes with a close fist and a few without. Treaded until the start.
Swim
  • 19m 15s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

Actually noticed having other people around me the entire race. That is good because it means I did not go way off course like I did in my previous open water races.

Some people even wore their wetsuits? It wasn't cold at all.
Transition 1
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Slipped my shoes, sunglasses, and jersey on quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Did everything pretty smoothly.
Run
  • 18m 43s
  • 2.49 miles
  • 07m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt dehydrated. Probably from the Guinness I drank while watching the Suns win last night. I felt my heel just a little but did not let it bother me.
What would you do differently?:

Now that my heel is pretty much better, I need to get back to a good training schedule especially with running. I felt a lot slower and fatigued from not running for 2 weeks.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it off, got a banana and water and watched some others finish. Then packed up my gear and went on my way.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not being able to run for a couple of weeks because of my left heel. Caused the run to feel much more fatiguing.

Event comments:

Another DCB Adventures race. Dave puts on well run events!

Performance: Good
Guessing on swim time (no official breakdown). Swam pretty well, but did taste that banana again. My head got dunked near the start and I swallowed a little water. Fought my way through though and got comfortable with my stroke. Swam much straighter and much more strongly through. Went to sweet spot a few times, mainly when getting dunked or bumped into as I wanted to regain my composure. I so wanted to kick the one guy but refrained.
