1 week before the Cowtown marathon and I have gotten sick. Sinus infection. Starting antibiotics tonight. Feel too sick at the moment to be angry.

Best time of the training cycle to have it happen. The hay is in the barn. Rest now will benefit you more than you realize. I just came off a week of sickness with an amazing progression run this morning. Your legs will be incredibly fresh.

hmmm... this sounds very familiar.

I struck a fever (same temp 102++) about 5 days out from my first marathon, took 3 days for the fever to subside, but during that time I lost 5 lbs (lack of eating will do that). The day before the marathon although I felt mentally okay, my body was not feeling good. Went for a short 3 mile run slower than my target race pace and my HR was spiked the entire time 180+.

In the end, the next day I did the marathon, about 45 minutes slower than my original goal. All of my 20+mile runs in the 8 weeks prior were at a much faster pace than on race day.

Just be careful not to push too hard if you are not fully recovered.

Yea. That could happen too. I guess I will know pretty early on.
I did my long runs with my eye on my heart rate monitor. It is the first race of the year. There will be more.

My fever broke last night!!!!!

I feel shakey and hungry but my fever is gone. I no longer feel sick, just "post sick"!!!!!

By Sunday I should be 100%.

Yes, consider it a blessing and drink plenty of water.

I just came out of a pollen induced cold before my half marathon this weekend.  I understand the frustration but remember sometimes it is completing that makes us better.
