Actually more like knowledge - I am looking for a way to email a number (approx 1000) people periodically (weekly) without breaking the bank. While I have an IT background this is out of my realm of knowledge. I see ListServ but outside my budget. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Appreciate the help!

Own MS Office? Look into Mail Merge. Assuming all the email addresses are in excel.

I do - but was hoping for a central location to store the addresses and permit unsubscribe if requested vs me having to maintain the list

Look into MailChimp. A free account gives you 12,000 credits a month. At one credit per email, you would only be hitting ~4000 credits a month with the above usage.

I use constant contact http://www.constantcontact.comfor about 2800 names.  It is a paid service, but I recall it being pretty cheap and it's very professional.

You also get a lot of statistics like who opened the email, who clicked the link etc...

x2.  We pay $15 a month for 1000 addresses IIRC

If you have fantastico with your hosting provider, you can use phplist as an add on for free.  If you don't have a hosting provider, then you can get one from somewhere like gator.com or something for 3-4 bucks per month and just run your mail service that way.
