Subject: Hyner Challenge

So, it's less than 2 months away now. Anyone doing the Hyner Challenge? I signed up, but I am only hiking/walking it. Then probably just barely. They added a 50k option this year for runners who can qualify.

I'm planning on doing Hyner. Hopefully, it will be the first of 5 trail races I would like to complete this year. The only other trail trace I have completed is the Rothrock Challenge two years ago. Or maybe it was 3.

Thanks for the reminder! If I want to run Hyner, I have a LOT of mileage to build between now and then.

Have you done Hyner before?

Oh no, this will be my first year. I haven't done anything close to that yet. Next weekend, March 3, there's the Geisinger Humdinger, which is sort of my less-than-halfway warmup event for Hyner.

You doing the PA Grand Slam?

well if you're in State College, I can't forget to put in a plug for a couple nice trail runs that are not too far from you. At the west end of Union County, there is a summer camp that has 2 trail runs a year. One is Labor Day weekend, the other is April 7 this year. the April is a night time event. 5k or 10k, you pick that day. Night flight is pretty new, but had over 100 runners last year. www.midpenntrailblazers.com - check it out. I'm a member. Good people.
