They will have Gu brand gels on the run.

Bonk Breaker has announced a partnership with Ironman.  The bars should be available at all IM and IM70.3 races (Not totally sure, but I think they mentioned 5150 races, too).

I prefer the Power bar gels as well. They are much thinner and go down easier. Gu is, well, too gooey. It is so thick I have more trouble wolfing it down. Once they are in the gut they make no difference to me.

Not an ideal change for me but not catastrophic either.

Bonk Breaker bars AND GU at all IM events this year?

I think I've died and gone to heaven.

Damn.  I just bought a bunch of the powerbar crap.  Oh well...I like GU better anyway...maybe I'll give the powerbar gels to the homeless bike-riding guy by my work.

Maybe its me, but the concept of having a bar with 9 grams of fat and 3 grams of fiber on the course is a bad idea.

Why's that?

The Powerbar Performance bars have 1g fiber, the Bonk Breaker PB&J has 2g fiber...
Maybe I am not concerned about an extra 5g of fat (Powerbar has 4g fat) - are others?

I wouldn't eat a Powerbar on the run ever (and wouldn't eat one after 70 miles mark on the bike).

Regardless, twice as much fat is a big deal if you're running the marathon.

Based on my inability to tolerate fat in my stomach while running.

OK, but that's you. Yoour comment was general and you appeared to be suggesting it was a bad idea for everyone, very dangerous suposition when it comes to nutrition.

Just as its dangerous to suggest that it works for everyone too.  Lots of people cannot handle fat (or protein or fiber) on the run.
