They were set up outside my gym yesterday; that is really hitting below the belt!

They have some special anniversary edition called Savannah Smiles which are TOTALLY awesome.  I don't buy them, but my boss is an old school girl scout and still very involved.   These cookies are lemon flavored, kind of shortbread but soft and thick, and covered in powdered sugar.  NUM!

Their web site describes: This lemon wedge cookie is cool and crisp, with just the right number of lemon chips to deliver tiny bursts of happiness.

Indeed!

Yup...100 year anniversary...and they are good. I did try one...ok 4 of them last night...My wife and I have been heavily involved in the girl scouts for about 6 years..Yes I am an official girlscout mom...they do not (well at least didnt a few years ago) have seperate forms forms for the dads..so I had to take the pledge as a girlscout mom. the girls in the troop got a kick out of that..and some of them still laugh and call me Alys mom when they see me...

These are only available in some of the areas, depending on which of the bakeries the local GS council uses. Sadly, I am in the wrong area. But my daughter at college (Go Terps!) is going to prove her love by hooking me up! Oh yeah!

I'm a troop leader and had over 1,200 boxes sitting in my living room!  I usually have no problem, I don't like mint, coconut or peanut butter so that takes care of any snacking.  But the Savannah Smiles this year - so yummy!  I miss our old lemon ones - they were big shortbread cookies dipped in a lemon coating on one side, but these were good, too.

I am so happy we are done with our sale and most of the money is in the bank - that is a big job!

Thin Mints...I have no will power. If they were in my garage I would have already eaten them.

Have you ever had Oreo Truffles?  I used the same recipe but made them with Thin Mints.  I don't care for mint, but other people liked them.  You take a box of Thin Mints and crush them in a food processor or in  plastic bag with a rolling pin.  Mix the crumbs up with a brick of softened cream cheese (I used a little less than a brick, the whole brick is for the oreos which is a much bigger package.)  Roll the mixture into balls.  Dip into melted chocolate, set on wax paper and let harden in the fridge.

Evil Girl Scout cookies, indeed.  Do they have to package them in those convenient single serving boxes?

They were selling them outside a grocery store the other day.  And they had 3 different kinds set out as samples.

Those things are like adult crack---I wanted to tell the moms that "chumming" wasn't fair.

I thought this was going to be about the article a few weeks ago on the "evils of being in the girl scouts and their socialist agenda etc..." Much Much happier to see it is all about cookies!

My wife had a fellow teacher at school helping sell them for her daughter and was sooo tempted to buy some. She will cave one of these days! (I just hope we have those yummy lemon ones here in Washington)

According to their website, they'll be at the REI & Jason's Deli in College Park this weekend. Tell your daughter so she knows EXACTLY where to go.

Those are in Northern California this year.  I've sampled a couple that were hanging around the office...

I'm sure I'll get jumped all over but I stopped buying Girl Scout cookies when they started setting up shop in front of the grocery stores.  I don't buy them because I really am not a big sweets person but I freaking hate having to tell the little girls "no" every time I go to the store.

Don't feel bad saying no.  We don't mind when people say no, especially if they say something nice like, "no thanks, but good luck."  Or even lie and just say, "I already bought some, thanks anyway."  The only people that made my girls feel a little bad were the ones that just walked by and didn't even smile.
