So, who is gearing up for a March or April running race?  I am volunteering at the finish line for the Get Lucky 7k, so if you get your medal from me say hi.   I am running the Human Race the following day in St. Paul (8k).  It's fun training for shorter races!  For the first time in a while, my "long run" will far exceed my race distance

Hey all, I have not been on here in a long time but thought I would start again and start posting instead of being a lurker. I am going to be doing the Wannarunamile 1/2 marathon in April and the Lake Minnetonka 1/2 in May.

Has anyone done either of these before? What were your thoughts? I have not done either but want to get some running races under my belt as I really want to improve my run this year for tri's.

Hmm, wonder if they rerouted the finish so that does not happen anymore. That is just motivation to finish in the top 250!... yeah right.

FoggyGoggles - 2012-02-29 1:14 PM Lake M'tonka is a good, well-supported race. Pretty flat and you couldn't ask for much better scenery for a race. The only bad thing I've heard about it is the finish was routed into a grassy area last year, causing it to become a mud pit after about 250 runners passed through.

Does every race called "Minnetonka" run in and out of the little park in Excelsior?  That's the venue for the Lake Minnetonka Tri and the Firecracker 10k.

Edit: answered my own question - yep, same park!

Cool, keep an eye out for me when you cross. I believe I will be handing out medals.

I'll be running the Lucky 7 with a bunch of friends - I will definitely look for you.

Is anyone doing the Cannon Falls Du? Usually really bad weather but a fun race for sure.

I'm planning on the Minnetonka Half and heard that they changed the course so we don't end up in the mudpit - let's hope!!

Great, hopefully we will connect!

I am also doing the Falls Du.  I knew the weather can be an issue, but I like a small race usually.  Fingers crossed it will be manageable weather

I'm going to be a "day of" decision for Cannon Falls. The last 2 years have been horrific weather and I am not interested in a three-peat.

I'm also looking for a 5k down here in Rochester around the first of April. Not to race, but just to convince myself that I'm really running again.

I'm doing the 21k at Get Lucky, then probably the Earth Day half in St. Cloud, then on to the Fargo Half.  Morris TinMan tri and the Chain of Lakes Tri before Fargo.

My 8 year old will be doing the 7k with his Grandma this year.  He's super excited about it and can't wait to get out there and race!  Keep an eye out for a mini-Gonz coming across the finish line!

Now you have me questioning myself; Am I the crazy one because I like the bad weather at Falls?

Regardless, I'll be there again this year.  Couldn't talk my wife into doing it a second time for her, she did not like the weather last year.

I'm doing the Human Race (8K) and the Get in Gear 10K, and I'm THINKING about racing the TC in Motion "Irish for a Day" 10 Mile next weekend with my son in the stroller (see other MN thread for a question on that). Also thinking about the HILLY New Prague Half Marathon in early May.

I'm running more and I might be "tri-ing" less. But everything ebbs and flows, so it's all good!

See a bunch of you at the Human Race! The start/finish is just 0.75 miles from my house, so the 2 times I've raced it, I just jog there as a WU. I LOVE that.

Come on now, New Pragues not that hilly. Probably only 5-6 hills on the course. Of course those hills are all 1-2 miles long . I'll be doing New Prague again this year. This can be either a beautiful time to run a half or brutal. Not much protection from the wind out there.

Ha! That's about the EXACT report I got from my wife when she ran it a few years back! It's an "MDRA Grand Prix" race, so if I want series points, I HAVE to race it... We'll see...
