Anyone ever do this? How long did you take off? How long did it take to heal? IMTX is two and a half months away. What do you recommend?

Oh no. That sucks.

Have you seen a physician and are you sure it's a groin strain (muscle(s) and site of injury identified)? How did you injure it?

There are other conditions that it may be, and care and rehab may be slightly different depending on exactly what it is strained and how severely.

P.S. Recent injury as in last couple of days? Ice ... soothing and likely to help, and won't hurt whatever it is.

Depends on the extent of the injury.  I pulled something down there about 4 years ago.  Never had to take any time off, slowly healed over time (long time) but never really impacted my training.  Did something down there this past Oct., so much to the point had had to cease all activities.  I am just now getting back into running.  It has been awful. Almost went in for surgery thinking I had a tear (sports hernia), but decided to wait after negative CT scan.  Glad I did...

It's the adductor, and not severe -as in not painful enough to keep me from training, but enough to worry about. Probably just a strain, happened during the marathon two weeks ago, but I didn't find out until I started running again this week. It's slowly improving, but training on it (specifically running) sets me back a bit. Headed to the doctor tomorrow, but wanted to hear from bt first on what you guys have been through with injuries like this. :-(

I am just recovering from a pulled groin...It took me about 5 weeks to feel good. I really pulled it though, like unable to even walk... I was told not to stretch it, as I thought thats all I needed at the beginning but I would stretch until it hurt...Now I stretch with no pain. Not saying don't stretch but there are different ways to do it..

Just really watch it...And take it slow, and smart.. And you will be fine!

I just did this a couple weeks ago. Definitely not pulled, but strained a bit cross country skiing. I did not feel it the day I skied, but I could barely walk the next day.  I tried to run a couple days later and could not do more than a very slow jog (while my wife ran intervals around me on the track)!  I did not have much trouble swimming or biking, so I kept those up almost normally.

I now have much more sympathy for pro athletes who are out for weeks.  It felt like I had a bruised testicle at times the way it radiated - definitely a most unpleasant feeling.

Bottom line, though, I was over it in about a week.

When I get "hurt" I stop completely for at least 3 days. (that's a minimum to see if it's in injury or just somethign I can work through)  In every circumstance I have been able to resume (at least) within 2 weeks.  I don't think that would be the case of I hadn't just stopped.  I've had to re-adjust some races/goals.......but it is what it is....and it's NEVER just about the next race,  no matter what it is.

Good luck....be smart.
