Subject: OK people which is a good seat
I have to replace my seat because it's kill my butt and the guys at work are making fun every time I say my *** hurts. Any suggestions? I've been eyeing those seat that don't have a horn on the front of the seat, are those any good?

Thanks,

I just bought a Profile Design Tristryke seat. It's designed to be more comfortable in the aero postion - it's a bit more narrow than a my old road seat, has a center cutout and has a padded nose (easier on the boys).  I like it so far.

Everything's uncomfortable when you're new at this.  I had the exact same saddle I have now late last year when I was starting to ride more and swore it was the devil.  Now I have no problems with it.  As Bear would say, ride lots.

Another vote here for the Fizik Arione Tri saddle.  It's great when you're in the aero positon with the extra padding on the nose but also comfortable when sitting upright climbing.

However, as was mentioned, if you're just starting out almost ALL seats are going to give you a sore A$$!!  But, if you do have to buy a new one, then I say go to your LBS, ask them to put a few on your bike, take them out for a short spin and see wich one feels best.

Amen brother! I have a Koobi on my tri bike and it's great, although it broke down rather quickly. I also have a Terry Fly on my road bike and it's good too, lot's of padding for those multi-hour rides. The key to a good saddle is trying several out. Find a LBS that will let you bring in YOUR bike and try out a few. Also....Try them all without looking at price. Many would say that wheels are one of the best upgrades for a bike, but if the boys are unhappy you won't want to ride anymore. Good luck!

HERE is a review of several tri saddles by BikeSport Michigan.  Hope it helps.

Cheers!

I ride a good old (vintage 1975) Brooks B17.  I have a gazillion miles on it.  I pulled the Bontrager seat off my new trek put on my trusty rusty leather saddle.

Tell me you're not running a B17 on a tri-bike.......That'd be too cool for school.

I also like the Arione Tri, only have about 170 miles on it so it is still breaking in. The only advice I can give on it is that I did notice it is more comfortable to ride it in tri shorts than in biking shorts.

Besty- is that a good saddle for riding in aero position? Any ladies want to comment on a good saddle for a tri bike?

i have the specialized jett women's saddle - its gorgeous! i also have a select bontrager wsd on my hybrid (well i will have when i collect my bike from the lbs).

did have the bontrager on my road bike but my god it hurt - not enough chance to move round on the longer rides. did have a men's select bontrager on my hyrbid and its horrrid...obviously!
