Pre-race routine:

Ride and run as much as family and work would allow.
Event warmup:

Drive to San Antonio from Abilene the night before and crash, then up at 430 to make the drive to the park for transition. That was my warm up :)

Gread course, not for the meek or new to rough mountain biking.

Work more on my stamina for the hills.... there were a couple of places that I walked as it gained faster ground than trying to ride.

Taking in water and food to replenish. Was a tough race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not running enough and not working on long up hills.

Course: Out and back on rough rock strewn road. Started in bottom of Natural Bridge Caverns and had to walk some sections of the cave for safety. Was a unique start and really enjoyed it.

Course: Loop in the Natural Bridge Caverns area, very rough course in many spots. Was really appreciating my full suspension Fuel EX9 :). The two down hills we were warned about lived up to thier names. They were rough and loose, rode all of first one and all but 20' of 2nd as self preservation came into play at one point where I couldn't tell what the course did(actually a hard right while going down). Great course, we were almost ready to ask if we could do the down hills again after the race :)....almost!
