Pre-race routine:

Ankle was not 100%. Got taped up at expo and figured a 345 might be all I could run, if I could finish. Big meal of pasta at 1930 with the rest of the team. Went to bed @ 2145 and finally out around 2230. Spent the night w Lance and he was snoring for a while. Woke at 0400 (gun -3) for 3 cup applesauce, 2 scoops whey. Back to bed till 0515 then coffee 1.5 cups, 3 sports legs at 6 and a bottle of gatoraid. Got on the bus for a 630 drop off
Event warmup:

Walked from the bus to gear check then to the starting area. Tried to stay out of the wind. Wore newtons, CEP, grey shorts short sleeve tech under long sleeve tulsa runner with throw away cotton sweatshirt and knit gloves. carried 2 espresso hammer jells, 3 sports legs 9ish enduralites and a 2ish hr bottle of perpetium.

Ok where to start expectations were 345ish but when the gun went off a 730 ish pace was feeling really good. tried to avoid the crowds and move into the corners to make the course short.
First 5+ miles went smooth but mentally I was very concerned i was pushing too hard. Focused on each mile and get fluids in. slowly worked the perpetium. Next 5 miles continued to go well as the crowds thinned more. When the half split I was amazed at how much room I had. Finished the perpetium around 9-10 and then I worked the first jel around 12 to 14 and took the second around 21. Definately noticed when the caffine hit. there were a few critical opints on the run. The first was at 10.5 at teh split and after the brutally long hill and the other was in the 19th mile when the feet were really starting to hurt. I was able to work the toes and rest the feet which ended up reducing the pain. Mile 21-22 was noticibly hard but nothing more challenging than other marathons. The last 4 miles were slower than I'd hoped but I was still able to reel in many other runners. I was careful to not look at total time except when deciding to take enduralites. Several times I fought off the desire to predict a finish time but only so I didn't get frustrated if I couldnt keep up current pace. Very happy with a 334 on this course. I've got faster marathons in me still.
What would you do differently?:

This day, not a darn thing. Feeling blessed to have the ability to run, and encourage others to do the same! When a DNS/DNF could have been the outcome, a near PR is awesome!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to the food area and sat down to stretch/eat tried to stay warm/cool as needed

What limited your ability to perform faster:

quality of training and extra weight. The extra weight has been a trend for the past several years. I talk about it but don't focus on how to make changes. It's time to start tracking weight and body fat and work ot make positive changes.

Event comments:

Very good race, I may be tempted to come back for the half in the future
