I had a good first outing after recouperating from some injuries.  Got a penalty for throwing down my gloves, but otherwise a good performance at Springs Back Du.

I plan to sign up for HITS Marble Falls same date as Kema.  I hear Kema is good, run and managed really well.  Everyone says it is a great race.  HITS MF is in my back yard so it makes sense, and the venue is top notch.  I hope I am making the right choice.

Anyone signed up? I usally do the Marble Falls race in July.   Mario does a great job.  Hope HITS is as good.

Yep, I am signed up for the half.  I've heard some positive things about the other HITS races.  Might not be a polished race series yet, but it doesn't really bother me too much.  It will be my first half so I really have nothing to compare it to.  I like you wanted to do it b/c it was within driving distance and a good course/area.

I've got 2 friends signed up for it as well.

We wish you all the best guys. Have a blast in Marble Falls. Hopefully you choose to come visit Kemah next year. We'd love to have you. Marble Falls should be a fun time. Good luck in your half ironman!

Aaron, the way things are going with HITS you won't need to worry about the competition next year.

I'd say everyone race all the HITS races you can in 2012 because I can't see them making it to 2013 without some drastic changes.  Just my opinion backed up by their dismal participation numbers.  It appears that each race has become better from an organization and quality standpoint but you can't put on races for long if nobody shows up.

Marble Falls is a great venue for a Tri.  The lake is calm, great water.  Bike will probably go out 71 toward Lano.  Hilly but a great ride.  Run along the lake.  Longer runs will most likely go onto 281.  If they don't fill up at MF then they better go to plan B.  Austin, SA, Dallas, and Houston huge stage to draw from.  I am doing the Olympic on Sat.  Hoping to get ready for Captex.

Marble Falls in July.  Central Texans like to see all the flat landers from Houston and Yankees from up north around Dallas deal with the hills and heat.

Our family has signed up for HITS Marble Falls. We did HITS Corpus, which did have a few things I would improve, but overall it was a good weekend. Thought about doing Kemah, but decided to do Marble Falls since it has a smaller field and the Open distance for my kids.

Made the executive decision.  Wife and I will be racing at MF.  Just the sprint for me, since I've not been able to run for the past 4 weeks due to the stress fracture.

Best of luck on coming back from the injuries.  I had to recuperate over 90 days.  Drove me nuts.  I am doing the sprint in the Republic of Texas in Corpus the week before and the Olympic at HITS in Marble Falls.  I have not checked but most likely close to the same course Mario has for the Marble Falls Tri in July.  The bike does have some good hills.  Good luck.  After this Captex.

See ya.  Go Cats.

I checked out the bike course on the web page.  Totally different than the Marble Falls Tri.  It goes out 281 to Burnett.  Hope it is good.  I could not get the run course to open.  I think this will be a wet suit legal race because of the cool nights.

Mario's race on July 22nd is always great. This year he's adding a sprint for those who don't want to ride all the hills.

Anyone else doing the Half?

I am going to be riding the bike route on the 14th and can give my opinion on it if anyone is interested.

And I imagine the water temp will be close to the Lake Travis readings, which currently are at 69, and can be found here.

Is the HIM the same as the Olympic only extended.  The Olympic goes to Burnett.  Do you think there will be any issues with traffic in Marble Falls with all the side streets.  Very heavy traffic in MF on weekends..

Good luck to everyone.

Looks like the Oly route is just a part of the half/full route.  I noticed the run route for the half/full also goes up this same road, so I imagine it should be blocked off pretty well.  I bet traffic on 281 is going to be a mess though, because the bikers and runners will have to cross 281 both coming and going and hopefully they will have cops to control the intersection.

I knew I should have procrastinated with the signup!  I wonder if that means they are not getting the signup numbers they hoped for.

From what I can tell, the hotels seem to be booked up, so I think it might get a decent turn out.

I asked them on Facebook. They have 450 registered and anticipate 600.I didn't ask for a breakdown by distance.

Getting to Mormon Mill Road will have the traffic if any. Aftr that he ride on the Oly, half and full follow out the same path. Half and Full go out to Burnet and Oatmeal, TX.

There is usually a group riding saturdays out that way, we'd love to have you join us.

To those looking for a place to stay. I may be open to renting a room or two. I'm right on the lake and just down the street from the start/finish.

Lake temp at the surface as of now off my dock is 72 degrees. Up 2 degrees from last weekend.

Where does the ride start from and time.  I might join the ride.   I am concerned about going through MF.
