Gang,

Mark your calendars for June 2 for the 2012 version of the 100 Miles to Nowhere from the Brown Dog House.  Still fee-free and the same 10 mile loop as last year (including the hill from mile 80 of the Hospitality Highway Century).

I have a nice Brooks door prize on the way, will order some fabulous GU products, and Doug is brewing frosty beverages right now.  If last year is any indication, folks will be riding all day long, so you will have time to work around other commitments.  Details to follow in May - just wanted to get on the schedule.

Steph

Wish I could be there, but I'll be out of town this year! Sounds amazing, I heard it was a blast last year

Here is the thing. Mtn Park sucks on lap one, and it still sucks the same amount on lap 10. However, the climb out of your "hood" only semi-sucks on lap 1, but by lap 10 it becomes OMG somebody kill me. That is the real kicker of this ride. It is bad, but only gets worse as the laps click off.

That being said, I am drafting a plan this weekend so hopefully I will be there again this year. Last year ROCKED! The only request I have is that Doug saves me more of those kickazz boiled peanuts he made.

Yep.

I'll have some frosty beverages on tap.

Boiled peanuts.

Pulled Pork BBQ.

and new for this year....

The Chillinator!  The Chillinator! will be a shower head that you can ride your bike under and then be flooded with cold water.  Not tap water. Cold water.  I'm working on the protype as we speak.

For any newbies or lurkers out there:

This is a fun ride that consists of ten 10 mile loops.  The course is pretty hilly, but the roads are tame.  The good part is you can come out and do zero or however many loops you want.  Everybody is welcome.

Woo hoo! I can't wait to do like 3 laps and then sit back and watch you guys suffer! If it's a hot day, I'll bring the margarita maker for Gu Brewritas (not Guritas as someone attempted last year)

I stalked the same thread last year and said if you guys do this ever again I will have to join. I'll try and be there, keep me posted on the plans and if you guys need anything. I also wanted to plan something similar around my house near Athens since we have some nice loops around here.

We are in..

Last year some awesome folks taught me more than I thought I could learn so give it a try.  Everyone has a blast (riders and family), there is even a scooby doo costume so we have a mascot.

Chicaskeeper - 2012-03-11 8:21 AM ....there is even a scooby doo costume so we have a mascot.

There is nothing that says fun like watching one of Katie's boys wearing a thick Scooby Doo costume in 90 degree heat, and refusing to take it off.  They're tough little fellas.

This was fun last year even though we couldn't hang out all day. Unfortunately, this is the same day as the kids tri in Athens so we'll probably have to miss it.

You Brown Dogs are awesome! I'm going to do my own ride called "20 miles to the BrownDogs" involving my Honda Element and trusty beverage cooler.

Just don't reschedule to the next weekend because that's the Muddy Buddy and I've already signed up. I'd hate to miss my shot at improving my Mtn Park hill no-stop completion rate, which was only 60% last year!

Has this been confirmed with the June 2nd date? Just wondering because some people asked for a re-schedule

Thanks

Harvey man we will have to do an option like this around our area. Maybe from my house to your house, it's good 20-25 miles of backroads in between us .

That being said I still plan to connect with the Brown Dogs and whoever else can make it.
