Total Time = 1h 08m 33s
Overall Rank = 46/119
Age Group = M45-49
Age Group Rank = 3/7
Pre-race routine:

Up early, eggs and blueberry waffles (plain), drive to event.
Ingested PowerGel prior to race.
Event warmup:

3-4 laps around the high school track and stretch.
Run
  • 17m 18s
  • 2.17 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

My training pace has been slow since recovering from h/s injury but I decided to see what I could do today. Tried to keep A in sight so was basically pacing off him. Felt good on this segment, surprised that I was able to keep pace.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Eh. Alex beat me out of transition. Transition needs work.
Bike
  • 31m 20s
  • 9.92 miles
  • 19.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Drank early - Gatorade. Speedfil system. Didn't drink too much, only what I needed. Nothing ingested on second half of second loop.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Had a long ride the day prior and was feeling my quads but this wasn't a race I was going to adjust my training schedule for.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Little problem unclipping right foot at dismount.
Run
  • 17m 20s
  • 2.24 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Right calf very tight as soon as run started. Loosened up during second mile. Slowed me down some. Probably an adjustment to Kinvaras and my new running style.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

A little stretching. Took advantage of the free massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Right calf cramp.

Event comments:

Another good event from USA Productions. I feel good about where I'm at at this point in my training.
