Elite  3221    the desert |  Subject: you decide...So back on June 11 of last year, I decided that I would register for IM Calfornia 70.3 in Oceanside. The race would be held MArch 31, 2012. Fast forward to now, 2 weeks away from race day. I've been training and am getting excited for the race. All accomodations and other preparations have been made. IT's almost go time. My boss calls me today and says that, due to some solid performance by our company, we've got 4 tickets to NOLA to attend the NCAA Final Four and Championship game and I get one of the 4 (when we go on trips like this, they are totally done right - hotels, dinners, etc). I turned him down. Same weekend as Oceanside. |

He's probably already found someone else to take the ticket...I say race the race and embrace the finisher's medal just as much as the tournament winner will embrace theirs. Only thing is you'll be participating in the race, not an observer. |

I was too late to register for Oceanside 2012 so I am volunteering for swim this year so I can watch the Ocean swim and I hope to race 2013 at Oceanside. I am doing two HIM races in AZ this year (Marquee & Soma) and hope to race both Oceanside 70.3 and IMAZ 140.6 in 2013. |

Hard to give advice on this, as we all have different priorities though, Tom. Personally, I would have made the same choice as you, but for my own reasons. Either way, it will be great to see you toeing the line in Oceanside with us! |
