Comments:

I thought this was a tough day. I was very hot. I started intending to do 7:10 miles and then hopefully speed up. After four 7:10 miles, it just didn't feel right, so I decided if I could keep 7:15, I would break 1:35. Except for two miles, I was able to do this, so I think this was a good decision.

I am proud of one thing. I know the 1:35 pacer and was talking to him before the race. At about mile 12 he caught me and told me not to let him pass. I made a joke about tripping him if he did, but instead dug deep and put in a 7:01 and a 7:05 mile at the end, with the last .18 at around a 6:30 pace. Since he was doing 7:15 miles, that basically explains the 23 seconds better than 1:35.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure.

Event comments:

Way overpriced. ($85?) Hoodie is hideous (hoodious?).

Nice job under tough conditions today!  Of all the other Team Ortho races I've done this is the hardest course plus add in the heat and humidity and the day could have been really bad (like mine...).  How long did you spend in the parking lot waiting to get out?

Thanks Gonzo. As for waiting, I parked at LifeTime Fitness across the street and up a block or two. I'm a member so I get to park in their ramp for free. So after the race, I went and took a shower and then got a Guinness with a friend before going home.

Good job on adjusting your expectations and making the best of the race.  I wouldn't have been interested in running in that heat, it's too early in the season!
