Marine Corps Marathon Series
55F / 13C
Sunny
Total Time = 57m 20s
Overall Rank = 516/1692
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 65/121
Pre-race routine:

Had a banana when I got up and a glass of water. Then had a gel 15 mins prior to start.
Event warmup:

Lunge matrix.
Run
  • 57m 20s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt very sluggish and the first hill wasn't great. Once I got warmed up I was able to get into a groove. Had to stop and tie shoes twice which didn't help( never has happened before?) Last three I cruised on until about the last .3/.4 miles which was the uphill to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Run more hills while training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and ate some post race snacks.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not running enough hills more during training.

Event comments:

Great race with good challenging hills and got me into the MCM which is really what it was about! I will run next year so I can own those hills instead of them owning me!
