Pre-race routine:

Got up early and did some strength training and an easy effort trainer ride. Picked up Dudley and Kara and met Mike. He had picked up our race packets then found out he couldn't race. Walked about a mile from the parking garage to the War Memorial where the race was starting and ending. Nice facility with plenty of rest rooms!
Event warmup:

Just stood around with 2200 of my new friends and Dud and Kara.
  • 40m 1s
  • 5 miles
  • 08m  min/mile

I decided to see where my run fitness was at and run the race full out. This might have been a better idea if it wasn't such a big group of runners. It was nearly 2 minutes before I crossed the start line and from there it was a lot of dodging in and out to make any progress.

Got a bit of a side stich about mile 4 which was unusual for me, but I managed to run through it.

Other than the first mile I was running 7:30 - 7:40 mile splits. I am good with that for mid March.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front

Warm down:

Grabbed a water and waited for Dud and Kara. Dud was pacing Kara in prep for her HM. Grabbed a bagel and headed home.
