Subject: Afternoon racing - what to eat?
I'm doing my first sprint tri tomorrow, my wave starts at 2pm. Most of the nutrition advice refers to races which start after breakfast, any suggestions on what to do for a late start?

My plan was to have a big-ish breakfast at about 9am and then maybe a light sandwich at about 11.30 am so I'm not eating in the 2 hrs before the race. Is this a good idea?

If you eat around 8:00, you could basically eat almost anything but do not over eat. I would stay away from fried foods though. Drink lots of water. Eat your pre-race meal around noon.

I too will be in a race this weekend-and just found out my wave doesn't start until almost 3pm! Maybe it won't make a difference, and I'll get to sleep in...but nutrition is a question. I'm used to getting up w/ an empty stomache and eating breakfast/pre-race then. Any other advice for what to do in the hours and hours I will have pre-race?
