Anybody doing this?

I am thinking about doing it and I just wanted to see what other peoples' experience has been.

It's a well-organized event. This will be the 3rd year for my daughter in the kids' event, and my wife's first sprint. I entered the olympic last year, but forgot my seattube clamp and only did the swim, so I can't comment on the bike or run course. They looked good on the map, though!

I just read about this yesterday.  If I do it, it will be the Olympic one.

Did they allow wetsuits last year?

Wetsuits are always allowed. Temps don't get warm enough in the lake to not allow wesuits.  I will be doing this race, however I am also doing Ragnar Relay Friday-Saturday.  It's going to be a sleepless weekend.

Right there with ya!! Doing the Olympic and also the Ragnar Relay "warm-up." Oy. Currently Seafair is my last hoorah for the season (cuz kids home from school really make it hard to train).

This one sounds good.  I especially like the fact the price isn't too astronomical like full Ironmans.  The Olympic distance is what i train at on a regular basis anyway, so, extra time is not needed to prepare, like for a full.

These pesky kids sure get in the way of our training and racing!

Oh, how to survive summer.

I've done the Seafair sprint in the past, it was a big, but well-organized race.  They hadn't started the Oly the time(s) I did it.  If I recall, it starts super early in the morning...I think I was back home by 930 or something like that!

Same -- I've done the sprint once or twice (before they offered an Oly) and it was a great race. I'd say I'm looking forward to the longer race, but really I'm questioning WTF I'm doing running Ragnar Friday/Saturday and then racing an Oly on Sunday. It's all Birdy's fault... darn him!!

Hey Washingtonians! I'm running Seafair too - my first Olympic, and I'm a little freaked out as even my cycling times compared to last year's finishers are extremely slow. Hopefully it's a bigger race this year, with more people in the "beginner" category...

RTB has a swim/run at Seward Park tomorrow night that I am planning to attend in order to familiarize myself with the course: http://www.weraisethebar.com/training/seward-park-training/.  Hopefully it's not too long of a run, considering the race is this Sunday!

I tested out my bike camera in a race last weekend and everything works.  I will have it again for seafair :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRY2xvJS1TU

Every tri I've done, I've thrown up in the first 3 miles of the ride.  I *really* hope I can avoid that this time.

3 more days!!!!

I'll have a report...at some point.  My brain is too focused on how uncomfortable I am right now to bring up repressed feelings.

That was some FAST competition.
