Comments:

Blasted out the first 3 laps at an average of less then an hour each. Was on a great pace of about 9 min miles and headed to a sub 5 hour run. Was paying attention to the deeper sand spots and inclines/declines for future reference. Sand was irritating to run on, but not impossible. Awesome for my first ultra. Mark, who ran with me really kept me going. About halfway through the 3rd lap I was having some pressure from a bowel development. Thought I could hang on for one more lap but ended up hitting the wood line at the halfway point on lap 4. Mark was walking more by then so we had slowed already by then as well. After my wood line event I ran to catch up with Mark who was having some stomach issues as well. He continued to walk and I ran on much to his urging. I was having some ferocious right knee pain and was hoping it is not the ITB again. It was keeping me from running outright. I would run for a 1/10th to a 1/4 then walk for a bit. I finally made it to the lap start and grabbed a Motrin, changed shoes from my minimus to my Adidas kanidas. Trying to lesson the impact as much as I could. It took a while for the Advil to kick in so I walked more than ran. When I could run for longer periods, I could keep going for at least a mile or so. At this point I only had 3 miles left. It was able to pick up the pace some as well. I was nearing the long boardwalk I slipped on a footbridge and ate it pretty hard. Hadn't even tripped in this race until this point. Ankle is bruised and scraped, but not injured. Great race though. I really liked this course.
What would you do differently?:

Need to improve my 20-35 mile range.
Post race

Event comments:

Awesome race put on by Grant. Very low key and all about the running.
