Sunny
Total Time = 1h 05m 40s
Overall Rank = 42/112
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/19
Pre-race routine:

Took in 2 scoops Perpetuem around 5:30, race start was 8:00
Event warmup:

Biked the run course (1 mile out). Ran about 1 mile at a light pace.
Run
  • 15m 45s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out fast, then backed into pace and worked at gettin HR down. After the turn, I worked on increasing cadence. Started feelinig real smooth, up the last hill with a breeze and HR was well in control.
What would you do differently?:

I was right on with my best case scenario pacing. I hoped for 8 min mile splits, but have usually ended up with around 9+.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Didn't record the T1 or T2 splits, they were included in my bike time, so this is an estimate of times.

For some reason when I was clipping my shoes into the pedals pre-race, I managed to knock the chain of the chain ring. I didn't realize this until I began running with the bike and the shoes started flopping around like crazy on the pedals. I fixed the chain, but I had trouble getting the shoes into position to get on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention in the pre-race routine.
Bike
  • 30m 47s
  • 11 miles
  • 21.44 mile/hr
Comments:

I stayed aero a good bit, but could have maintained my high cadence climbs. A couple times I would loose focus and end up griding up the hill swith a low cadence.
What would you do differently?:

Spin higher.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I got off the bike while keeping the shoes clipped into the pedals. Entry into the T2 was good. Put on shoes without a problem, took in some HEED and Hammer Gel, then was off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, went very smooth.
Run
  • 17m 25s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

At the start of the run, my legs were tired from the bike, but after about 15 - 20 seconds of running they loosened up. I should have went ou on the first mile a little faster. I felt out of rythm, worked on gettng my HR down. After the turn, I started picking up the cadence and pace after getting passed by two guys. Stayed with them to the last hill then out motored them up. I felt like I had more in me if they wanted to go faster.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up the pace sooner in the first mile going downhill.

Event comments:

It was a fun, small race.

You described the post race activites as "Below Average"?  So an ice chest of Gatorade and an ice chest of water are below average?   Is this level not deserving of the "Bad" descriptor?  If not, I would hate to see what you would call "Bad" post race activities!

Just kidding - it was a fun, small race - you're right. Great spirit and fun to see people just coming out to have a good time.  My personal favorite sight of the day was the utilization of the roadside ditch as a transition area.   Gotta love it.

 Great job today baby.

Yeah, the dogs there really seemed to enjoy eating it off the ground.

Oh and I forgot to tell you I got to observe a woman breast feeding her baby while ya'll were out on the bike.   Dogs eating dirty watermelon and breast feeding women in public.  You sure know how to treat a girl to a good time!!!
