Pre-race routine:

had some oatmeal and protein powder, drove to race site about 40 minutes away, got marked , etc I should have gotten there earlier
Event warmup:

walked from my truck to transition area like 5 times to look for my chip...it was in my pocket the whole time...doooh Homer Simpson moment, I managed to get in the water with my wetsuit on for a qucik couple of strokes and get used to the water before my wave took off, It was my first open water swim,,,I think I did great, my thought for the day was to have a good time and survive the swim, and have agood training day....a good finishing time did not matter, enjoying a GOOD TIME and finishing did...

Congratulations Michael...great job on the first open water swim and your overall race. Sorry I did not get to meet you. I think UTC is going to have a transition clinic this summer. Its worth it to see/hear what people do to shave off seconds/minutes. As my coach says, would you rather run :20 per mile faster on the 5K run or shave a minute off transition?...
