Only 23 week, 3 days Smile to go. It will be tropical and warm. Unlike Melbourne!

Hahahaha!

I am definitely in for the half. Unlikely the full, but you never know what odd forces may conspire ... truth be told, I just don't think I'd be ready for another shot in September.

On ya.

I did a sprint on the w/e. Things I learnt, gotta get some miles done! I am looking at Tabuelan 111, june 17, 14 weeks out. Most probably nutty, But I will use it as a guide.

I am using the beginner ironman. Seems to work OK. As I am retired, I can fit it in, no probs.

Going to lash out on a carbon frame, (bike, not walkingSmile) Should help to smooth out the bumps.

The only tricky bit is nutrition. Used to do 1/2mary's on jels. Easy. Can'teven get any in Cebu, not Surigao. Hasn't even got McDonalds!!Smile

Plenty of coconut treesLaughing good for potasium, right?

Anyway any thoughts, pass them on. I could do with a few pointers.

I get my gels through chain reaction cycles. At least for Singapore they deliver free if you order over $200. By the time you buy some gels plus all the other things you really 'need' it's easy to hit that amount

I'm signed up for the HIM in Bintan. Did my first HIM in March and looking to do a full next year so this is the stepping stone.

Have fun with the bike shopping, bought my first new bike in 20 years in March last year. Got an older model Felt B16 which is carbon and am really enjoying it. Still do most of my miles on my 21 year old Cro-Mo as the TT bike feels a bit unsafe in traffic with the positioning of the gears.

Thanks for that. I made the mistake of getting some tyres through Chain reaction. That bit was good, just had to double the price this end. Tax is one word for it....

Unfortunatly I am back to OZ to get a hernia fixed. Still think I'm 21, not 61. I shall organise something from that end. Out Till next year.

An option here is to get an unbranded carbon fram via china, about 600us, then put my bike running gear on it. That could be a plan.

Have fun and enjoy the new Bike and good luck with the half.Cool

I'm in for the 70.3 race as long as my calf holds up to the next 3-4weeks of training.

I'll use it as a early season race building up to IM NZ in March next year.

I was out in BIntan a couple of weeks ago and took the bike. Lots of hills nothing really steep but just back to back power climbs. Garmin got up to 99deg blo*y hot - much hotter than Singapore. Shld be challenging day.
