As of yesterday afternoon at about 1500 (3:00 pm civilian) I completed my first half ironman. The Florida Half IM, 70.3. The time was over 7 hours, but I had a couple incidents (not for public comment) that slowed me down. I was happy with the results.

My only good pieces of advice would be, make a race/pace plan and followit (I did and it worked great), eat and drink every chance you get, and do brick workout (I didn't).

I did get to meet Mike (marmadaddy) and his family Saturday at the race expo, but couldn't make the dinner with the BT crew Saturday night.

Once the results get posted I will fill in my race report.

Brent

a half-iron man...hmmm...what alloy is that? I don't have my periodic table in front of me...
I want to know because I'll be one after Timberman and need to know the chemical compositioin for my tattoo

Seriously, though, congrats on your achievement!

Iron is element #26, and Aluminum is element #13. Some races already thought of this, I know there are a few Aluminum Man tris around.

Congrats Brent! I was out there too, and when results are up I'll make a report. My report will probably be 75% on heat mitigation strategies had to resort to during the run.

Brent,

Atta boy. Remember most people will never complete those distances, ever. Way to toe the line and persevere through "issues".
