So it isn't a planter wart. I have had a couple of those. This has been going on for a couple of months... first I thought my sock was bunching up, then I thought it was my shoe, then it turned into all my shoes, now I can feel it barefoot. It doesn't' really hurt, but it is getting very annoying. It does not feel like"me", it feels like I'm walking on a  lump of something. Third toe right in the ball of my foot. Any guesses before seeking professional help?

I'm pretty cautious about lumps anywhere. I would get it checked out by your doctor, especially if it is a hard lump - even if it does turn out to be nothing better safe than sorry.

An aunt of mine just had a lump on her foot diagnosed as cancer. Now she's looking at a pretty serious prognosis because she didn't get it checked out when it was just starting to be noticed. Not trying to be the extremist here but it would never hurt to have someone take a serious look at it.

That's interesting on Wiki. Never heard of it. It's possible. Not so much painful as numbness which can also be the case. Unfortunately it has very slowly been getting worse not better. So not going the right direction. So far it is an annoyance, not a hindrance. I will go to the doc if it continues.

On the other notes.... since a young age anytime I felt anything I thought I had cancer. I have no idea why because nobody in my family had it. I'm a  bit of a hypochondriac in that sense, except I have been very healthy my whole life and never go to the doctor. SO FAR, that has not been true, but it is always my first diagnosis.

Definitely sounds like a Morton's Neuroma.  I have one in my left foot.  Got fitted for custom inserts and it made a HUGE difference.  I was at the point where trying to run or even walk 2 miles was miserable.

Going to have to have the cleats moved back on my bike shoes because the position they're currently in is exacerbating the neuroma.

 Morton's neuroma?

The Triathlete magazine I got two days ago has a page on Morton's neuroma, how to diagnose, how to treat, etc. You may want to pick it up.

So I read that and what are inserts supposed to do? Right now I want to cut a hole in my shoe insert just to give perceived room to the perceived lump. I'm not going to, but curious about the inserts.
