Subject: RE: Riverwood anyone? 4-28 fatmouse - 2012-04-29 1:23 PM How did it go for everyone? I think this is the last time I'll do that race. I've done it all 10 years they've had it, primarily because it was the first race I did here in NC and a good one to start the year. I've won AG hardware a couple of times, but haven't trained much in the last 3 years so it hasn't been that much fun. And now it seems like they are just going through the motions. Of course, that's a good description of my training too. Hope y'all had a good race! This was my first time there, and I thought they did a very nice job. I liked the intimacy of the race; my wife and kids were able to come with me, they enjoyed a prerace donut and coffee. I enjoyed the warm fitness center where we could all wait (and took advantage of a stationary bike to stay loosened up prior to my 8:45 swim start). Bike course was challenging in a few spots, but I'd say a very fast course given the slight wind that was out there (not much). Run course was challenging as well, it's not often you see some pretty good runners walking up a hill in a sprint. My funniest moment was when my youngest son and I were going to check results, to see how far down in my AG I had finished. I thought I had an "OK" race, but didn't feel like it was that good (that's what's so hard to figure about pool-swim starts). I naturally started looking down about 20 spots overall and continued to the bottom of the list, and was like "what the heck, my chip didn't register?!" Repeated that exercise once more before thinking to look UP. When I saw my finishing position, I about fell out. Very funny, a few of the other racers were laughing with/at me after my realization. Oh, and I am the most sore I've ever been after a sprint today. Poor rest last week, chest cold, and going pretty hard on the bike seem to have taken their toll. Edited by fgump 2012-04-30 4:37 AM
