Comments: I saw my 1 mile split (6:32) and thought I'm running way too fast (since my previous 1 mile PR was a 6:37. Paced with a woman who was breathing pretty heavy (I have that effect on people, ha!...kidding). Held a VERY steady pace, and had quite a bit left, so kicked in the last 1/2 mile. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I wasn't expecting much from this run having just run 7 miles, but totally surprised myself with a PR. Just listened to my body...no HRM, just a glance at my pace at mile 1. Post race
Warm down: Drank water and ate a bagel, banana. Talked to the chiropractor who had a booth at the race. She had a table there and put me through the stretching regimen. Said my left leg is slightly shorter than my right (no wonder I have uneven wear in my shoes), that I had good leg flexibility, but that my upper left back was very tight. Told her that it was from swimming with unilateral breathing (right side only). What limited your ability to perform faster: Running 7 miles. Event comments: Fun race, great people... Today is my scheduled 20 for marathon training. I found out 2 other guys in my running group were going to do this race. I figured I would work in BOTH the 2 and 5 mile races into my 20 schedule, so I parked my car at 140th St. and ran 7.24 miles up to the race. Finished off 1 large bottle of Gatorade on my run up to the race. Got up to the race and registered for both races.
Talked to a chiropractor at the race, stretched out the calves. Talked to Scotty and Joe. No warm-up needed...I just ran 7 miles.
