Total Time = 54m 11s
Overall Rank = 38/108
Age Group = 35-39M
Age Group Rank = 4/6
Pre-race routine:

Had sludge for breakfast and rode bike from hotel to the ice rink, yes the transisiton was in an ice rink (melted). I had 44 degrees when I left the hotel.
Event warmup:

Jogged for 5 min.
Swim
  • 09m 7s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was last. Swim was a mess, it's hard to get that many people swimming in that few lanes but not too bad. Got punched and kicked and the first place female grabbed my leg and pulled herself around me. Glad I could help.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on form, saw some pics and my head is way out of the water.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

run to bike was fine
Bike
  • 23m 48s
  • 6.9 miles
  • 17.39 mile/hr
Comments:

The short bike screwed me. This is by far my strength and couldn't reel in as many as I usually do. Don't think I could have caught anyone ahead of me in my AG though.
What would you do differently?:

Race was so short it was hard to tell how hard to go??
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Bike to swim
Run
  • 18m 48s
  • 2.12 miles
  • 08m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

I was in last place on the run in the first 25 yards. Wow, talk about some jack rabbits. I haven't trained with this short of a run for months. I just can't run that fast. Here is a weakness, but everything I have left is at least 5k and in traditional order. Was impressive to watch them pull away.
What would you do differently?:

I gues some speed work
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around waited for awards

What limited your ability to perform faster:

It was chilly and windy on the bikeI am happy. Stepping into AG this year is going to be tough. The 3 guys who beat me in my AG finished in the top 10.

Event comments:

First year race. Chasing 3 does a great job. I think they could have made the bike an out and back utlizing a roundabout to eliminate a left turn out of transition. This would have made for a bike route that was the right lengtth. Would be a great first race for a new triathlete, especially if the weather is good.
