Pre-race routine:

Stayed at FeXY house. As usual too much fun. Went to bed at 11, but quickly went downstairs to sleep on couch as I was coughing uncontrollably. Been sick all week and wasn't better yet. Woken at 5AM by the coffee maker and shortly after by SKB who decided it was time to work on training plans?? Went back up to the room and tried to sleep another hour or so. Felt ok but a little foggy that morning.
Event warmup:

Rode over to the race site with Mel and SKB nice and easy (3.5 miles or so)
Swim
  • 22m 56s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 24s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Auto multisport was all messed up so I didn't pay attention to the watch. A few were ahead of me in the wave but did a relatively good job navigating the waves in front of me. Was looking to catch up to some of my buds in the earlier wave.
Swim was much better than the old course. More protected. Water was a little chilly but I was fine going sleeveless
What would you do differently?:

Not wear a watch
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

slow. took off watch and actually took time to turn it off? was pretty cold. Feet a little numb. Put bike shoes on because I was unsure of mount line.
What would you do differently?:

just throw watch off.
Bike
  • 1h 03m 7s
  • 23.2 miles
  • 22.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Crushed it. Coach and I planned on just hammering the swim/bike and letting the run happen as the footing may change my ability to push as hard as I want (I have trouble with crazy footing).
I had no watch so no clue what was going on, just that I was passing people up quite a bit. Felt so good. Got out of the saddle on the smaller hills. Felt like it was an even effort throughout. First loop was pretty crowded, second loop not as bad.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Great transition. Good dismount.
Run
  • 50m 47s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was complicated.. Not too hilly but footing varied and weird. I liked all the out and backs, gave you time to see where you were located in the field. I liked to see that I wasn't too far behind the other waves of ladies (came off the bike close to second in my wave - 35+). My legs felt fabulous. I dont remember if they have ever felt that good. My lungs/throat were a mess. Hard to breathe, clogged with illness (allergies were also a bit OOC). Did my best.

Leslie passed me about 2 miles into the race. Was expecting to see her on the bike so this was pleasing ;). Got passed by the AG winner at mile 6. Ugh. But made a new friend and hopefully will become a new FeXY :).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Happy with this.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing. Really happy with an 8 minute PR in an Oly distance (yes bike was short but not 8 minutes short). Happy with my two coaching clients performances as well. The three of us were doubling (plus a few other teammates) so looking forward to the sprint the next day!
Legs felt great so I was hopeful.

Rode home back to the house.

Event comments:

I think Setup did a great job. For all the whining, I think the course was fun and different. I love the bike course in the new direction. And I think the run was fun.

You're the disk lady! Loved the sound the disk made...very cool...

You and the guys were welcome pressure setting the pace...also appreciated your patience with the 2 gals sightseeing...

Wish I had your swim, Congrats on a great time!
