Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3am, ate/drank on the way there, had a starbucks double shot, a large mug of coffee and a smoothie (kale, carrots, berries, orange juice, protein powder, banana, greek yogurt). At the race site ate a waffle sandwich with peanut butter, nutella and banana. Got there around 5:20 and checked in, set up transition area, put on sunscreen etc. Put off putting on wetsuit until as late as possible, 7am, as it was very cold.
Event warmup:

Got in the water to get used to it, should have swam more.

Tried to go out hard and it didn't work out for me, slow and steady I think is my better strategy, it took too long for me to get my heart rate under control and swim well. Sighting was good and I did draft a bit.

Transition didn't feel this long, I guess I could have run more out of the water. Putting on socks took a long time, my feet were freezing.

Felt great on the bike, got in lots of aero on the 2nd loop, passed a bunch of people on hill. Even stopped to give someone with a flat one of my spare tubes. Only thing was I needed to eat more to carry me through the run.
