I took a week off last week with a couple of friends and headed down to Busselton for some hard training. It was good. After suffering from illness and leg injuries, the week gave me some much needed confidence. Looking forward to race day

The course is definitely fast and flat. The only things you'll have to deal with is some head wind and some rough sections of road along Tuart Drive, the rest of it is fairly smooth

You can have a look at my Garmin data if you like, shows elevation. I didn't stay completely true to the course but gives you an idea. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/167494082

Still got a long run and ride to do this week. Hope to start tapering after ANZAC day. I am only doing the bike and run in a team. My goal will be under 5hrs for the 2 legs. Not sure yet on the swimmer but he hopes to be about 35mins.

Not a heap on confidence as yet. Done lots of miles but only ran the 21km once and haven't done a 90km ride yet but lots of 80kms. Did a brick yesterday of 55km ride and then a 40min run. Felt ok but would have loved the time to do a longer run.

Yeh I saw that. I was looking forward to the swim out the jetty but no biggie as long as the distance is right. I hope they didn't change it just because of the percieved shark threat. Surely they realize that sharks swim in shallow water also!!!

They didn't mention "Sharks" , They said "Marine Life". LOL

It was so they could get everybody out of the water faster if they had too , which is fair enough. But as mentioned on another forum the first buoy will be interesting, so close from the start.

The wave starts should help a little bit. It will probably still be a MMA type swim to the bouy. Kick punch grab stroke!

Instead of contending with the sharks, it will be the stingers.

That close to shore in the shallows they are usually pretty thick.

I didn't do so well in the swim, came out at 56 minutes. I was aiming for a 40 min swim, guess I was a bit too optimistic. Bike finished it in 2:41 and run 1:52. Total time 5:35:05. Pretty disappointed, I was aiming for a 5:15. I did beat last years time by 4 minutes I guess I should be happy about that.
