Subject: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread

I thought I would start a new thread for organizing group workouts for the Kansas 70.3.

I am available for a ride/run at Clinton anytime next weekend -- April 28th and 29th -- as follows:

April 28th:  After 11:30

April 29th:  All day

Anyone up for either of those?  I would like to do the full bike course and at least one lap of the run course.  I could also this Saturday (April 21st), but I think we may have a group ride set with the Topeka tri club for Saturday and my Sunday is shot.

Feel free to share the workouts on the thread below.

As far as your dates below, I might be interested, but couldn't commit yet until next week.

I have been tracking that thread, but the workout proposals have been scattered around lately so i thought I would bring them into one thread on the Kansas forum.

I would be up for a partial on the bike and run courses this Sunday maybe if we don't go ride Longview. The weekend after that I had considered doing the full bike course to see what I was in for.

Although, you guys would laugh at how slow I am on the bike. And on the run. And in the water.  Laughing

If I can convince the wife, I would be up for next sunday 4/29.  The group that we rode with two weeks ago is going to be back out there that day as well.

Sunday 4/29 works perfect for me.  This Sunday  4/22 is really bad.

I think I might be down for that.  Pete and I are talking about a ride this Sunday from from Prairie Village to Lawrence and back this weekend (Sunday) if anyone's interested.

actually- more from Olathe/OP to Lawrence.  I think there is a group going out to ride the course the first weekend of May as well.

If you make it to Lawrence early enough Sunday, come say hi to me at 9th and New HAmpshire after the Kansas Half Marathon.

Couple of friends on Facebook are throwing around May 5 as a "ride the course" day if anyone else is interested. I would be happy to lead a 15-16mph group, plus a short brick run afterwards.

I'd prefer a morning start but am pretty flexible.

Any takers?

Count me in with this group Will hopefully arrive there no later than 11AM (preferably earlier though you know how that goes sometimes). What time are you thinking you'd be starting?

1)  4/29 Group --- I propose a 9:00 start time.  Does that work for everyone?  I am flexible, but want to get an actual time thrown out there to keep this going.

2)  I am also in for the 5/5 Group -- Keep us updated on the start time for that one.

3)  Lisa --- Shoot me an e-mail about the parking spot on race day.  Check your PMs for my message and e-mail address.

Did a 50mi bike/10mi run brick on Saturday and am feeling pretty good about my preparation, but need more long days like that so I will be out the next 2 weekends with the groups.

11 a.m. start time sounds great to me.
It's pretty easy to park in T1 by the lake, that's where I would recommend.

Also, have I been living under a rock? Is this now a ONE-TRANSITION race? This map, taken directly from the race web site, indicates Bike Start & Finish are at the same location. In previous years they have been in different locations...?!

Jayhox- 9:00a works for me for 4/29, any idea where to meet?  Looks like it's going to be a colder ride...

I would like to start/finish from the T1 transition area because we started outside of the park last time.  So the same place as Lisa is discussing above.

Bumping this up to see who else is in for this Sunday.  Mark, could you do 8:30 or even 8:00?  My wife reminded me that my girls have a recital int he afternoon and I want to give myself a little more breathing room if possible.  But I can still make 9:00 work.

Who else???

I can't this weekend, probably try to make the 5th group if no one minds. Anyone want to try and swim that day? I could use an OWS session.

Patrick, I am working on it. The earlier the better for me if I am able to make it this Sunday.

I'm not doing the race this year (BAK this year), but hope to make the May 5th ride and run.  Good prep for the KC Tri

Does 8:00 this Sunday morning work, or is that too early?  That would be ~3 hours for the bike and ~1 for the run, give or take, and allow me to get back for my daughters' recital.

Right now we have Mark, Jon, and Me.  Anyone else?
