Subject: Loaner wheel for The Rookie

The hub on my Zipp 404 front wheel slowly disintegrated during the off season (very minor failure that the tension of the spokes pulled apart to over 1/8").  I ordered one of the new Flo 90s that I'm super excited about, but it won't be here in time for The Rookie Tri in Austin in just over 2 weeks.  I'm a consistent podium contender for this race without having actually gotten there.  I like my chances again this year.

It's a long shot, but is anyone in the Austin area willing to loan me an aero front for the race?  I will reimburse you fully if there happened to be any damage during the race.  Yeah, the bike course is only 11 miles long and will take me less than 30 minutes, but the bike is my strongest leg and where I'm likely to make the most time.  Besides, I'll look silly on my P3 with disc rear and aero helmet with a standard box front rim with round spokes.  ; )

If you think an FP 60 is good enough,  you are welcome to borrow mine.

Thanks so much for the offer!  But I found out that Bicycle Sport Shop rents them for $20/wheel.  I've got a Zipp 808 carbon clincher reserved.

I wish we had a shop like that on the north side of Houston. I submitted to rent a cervelo with a 808/disc combo for longhorn. You can even rent aero helmets.

For the upcoming Rookie Tri, I rented a carbon Madone from them.  Cost less than shipping my lesser bike to Austin.

Do they still make you sign a waiver acknowledging you are not racing?

I had to do that when I rented a mtb from them.  I never raced it as far as they know Cool
