I did Beach2battleship full last year and loved it. Very well run race with great support It is a fast swim. Only problem last year was the wind on the bike. But the weather is not something that can be controlled. The location is also very nIce. I would recomend Beacc 2 Battleship for any one for either the half or full.

I've done B2B full (2010, alas, when the swim was NOT fast).  It was a blast.  It can be chilly early in the day, but if you are prepared, the cold is no problem.

B2B is one of my favorite races- great venue, really nice croud support, etc. If you have specific questions pm me or check out my race report from a couple of years ago (when experior did it too I think). Did I mention that this is a great race? :-) I am toying with doing it again this year (the half this time)...great memories from last time (and some painful ones).

I did miami 70.3 (not to be confused with miami man) last year. despite the fact that i was one of the last on the course, all the aid stations were fully stocked and filled with awesome volunteers. The swim was not wetsuit legal last year (not certain about 2010) in the bay, great visibility, water was like glass, despite a tropical storm in the distance. Bike course was flat, a couple railroad tracks to cross, bottle hand-ups were problem free, TONS of police to protect any/all intersections and u-turns. With the tropical storm off in the distance, the ride was windy, as there is nothing to break the wind. Run was a 2 loop out and back, only hills was the bridge. I was initially hesitant after a disastrous 2010 race, but 2011 went off without a hitch (except a 45 minute rain delay on the swim start). And the post race food was delicious. Roast pork, rice, beans, salad, pasta salad, fried sweet plantains and lots more.

all that being said, i've already registered and booked my lodging for this years race. Added bonus: will be staying 1/2 mile from race site

TOYING???????? I heard you are doing it.

to the OP. B2B is a great race and I would tell anyone to do it. I cannot compare it to Miami b/c I have not done that, but you most def can't go wrong if you come to Wilmington, NC.

I wonder when they're going to update the course page, then.

That makes me happy as one of the biggest pain in the tucas for that race is after you're done the half, you wait for an hour or so for a water taxi or one of the buses to get back over the river. So that's a very good change, in my book.

I know the struggles with getting back to Wilmington after the race but now you not racing to the battleship or even leaving your bike there so the race name is all wrong.

Yeah you don't finish at Battleship Park but finishing on Water St. gives you and even better view of Battleship NC than when you finish at the park in my opinion.

Well considering Black Fly Tri doesn't have any black flies, Mooseman doesn't have any moose and Timberman doesn't have tree people, that you're right beside the battleship is close enough for me to appreciate the name.

I have not done a half yet, but I have been eying up the B2B because next years race is supposed to be run on my 40th birthday.  I figured it would be a perfect venue, but I have seen that they are now reconsidering the date for 2013.  I am happy to hear all of the great things about the race.  Does it fill up quickly?

No it doesn't typically fill quickly.  I'd just watch the registration page -- they'll show you how many people are registered.

I think the new course looks great.  The finish is far far better than the old one.

And a new 10hr time limit (according to Mayor's comments)?????

Seriously- this is great race staged by solid event staff.  I did the full last yr & really enjoyed it.
