Comments: Good run. Tried to keep pace with betyoursilver and mostly was able to. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: No issues. Went as expected. Bike
Comments: Left arm rest sagged right at the start so I was up on the bullhorns for the entire ride. That rest has been a problem for awhile now so I guess it's going to have to get replaced since I can't seem to find a permanenet fix. Tough transition from run to bike but I finally found a good candence. Kept getting caught up in packs of guys until we started the climb. I was then able to break away and power up. Felt good about my climbing capabilities. One guy caught up with me at the top and passed me just as we started then descent. He pulled ahead but I was able to keep him in sight on the flat run back to transition. No other guys passed us but we both were passed by this inhumanly fast rider from the women's wave. What would you do differently?: Need to fix the arm rest. Overall, I'm pleased with my performance, particularly after yesterday's long ride and swim. Transition 2
Comments: No issues. Had a Power Gel. Run
Comments: Took 3/4 to 1 mile to really make the transition and find a pace. That's a long time for me and I was passed by several runners. Finally settled in fairly comfortably. After the turnaround point, I sped up a bit to pass a runner in front of me and the increased pace felt good. I kept that pace up to the end. Drank water the second time I went by the aid station, about 1 mile left in the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Good race. I'm pleased where I am with my training and Boise 70.3 is starting to seem doable. Post race
Warm down: A little light jogging to bring the heart rate down. The day was definitely heating up by then. What limited your ability to perform faster: bike arm rest; still building my fitness Event comments: Threshold Racing did a good job, especially managing the necessary changes when the swim was cancelled. Well marshalled, never any doubt about where to turn and which fork to take. No problems at the lights. Lots of fruit post-race. Last updated: 2012-04-08 12:00 AM

The swim was cancelled due to unhealthy water conditions so the event was changed to a duathlon. One mile run to start. Packed up the night before and got an early start down to the event.
Took longer than anticipated to get to the race site so was running a tad behind. Very organized event, transition area easy to navigate and set-up so that all helped. Managed a few stretches and about four minutes of slow running to get the heart rate up.
