Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 16m 17s
Overall Rank = 68/197
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 8/18
Pre-race routine:

had some cheerios, and an apple, did a little light stretching in the hotel.
Event warmup:

Because of the rain, my warmup was real light. Did a light jog and mainly focussed on stretching
Swim
  • 05m 31s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 50s / 100 meters
Comments:

I missed my estimated time by 1 second. Thought my swim went real well considering it is my weakest event. Only problem towards the end was drifting to the middle and had one or two close calls with other swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

Need to build some more stamina in the pool, also work on snaking through the lanes
Transition 1
  • 03m 27s
Comments:

Had to dig through my bag to find my shoes and gloves but for the most part was quick. I usually dont ride with socks so i had to take extra time to get those on. Hard part was getting my long sleeve jersey on in the wet cold weather.
What would you do differently?:

have it not rain.
Bike
  • 42m 22s
  • 13 miles
  • 18.41 mile/hr
Comments:

bike course had standing water all over but managed to navigate okay. The rollers were definetely taxing on the legs, but the final 6 miles all being straight was nice to lay the hammer on.
What would you do differently?:

more hill work on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

this transition was much better than the first. popped off the gloves, helmet, shoes with no problem. Feet were frozen so i didnt tighten my speed laces because i thiought they were already tight.
What would you do differently?:

take the time to tighten my laces.
Run
  • 23m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

nice run course. ran a decent time with what i had projected. Another guy and myself pushed the last 1/2 mi hard to catch some people infront of us.
What would you do differently?:

pick up the pace from the beginning instead of at the end
Post race
Warm down:

get dry clothes on, have a little to eat, and do some light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weather, and early season condition
