We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and need to make some decisions on appliances.  GE Profile gets great reviews by Consumer Reports and seems to be really nice stuff, but I've seen some less than good reviews based, specifically for the refridgerators, regarding longevity.  Anybody here have them and like or dislike them?

My profile dishwasher is still truckin' nearly 13 years after buying it with no issues. Of course, it will now explode next time I run it.......

Have a GE fridge which has been fine as well. its on year 7.

Our condo has GE Profile appliances.  They are about 9 years old but have not been used much.  The membrane button panel failed on the stove and the microwave died (main controller board would be a guess).  This seems a bit less reliable than expected for supposedly high end appliances.

I've got a GE Profile package in my house... all equipment is about 8 years old.

I did in fact have an issue with the fridge, the main control board.  The unit failed about 3 years ago, but it was replaced by a local tech under warranty.  Apparently, GE had a string of issues with control boards from a supplier and it was a known issue.  The sent out a tech bulletin to their dealers and reps.

This was the only issue I've had with the equipment.

Got the Ge profile package sans fridge (oven, stove, dishwasher, microwave).  Had them for about 6 years.  No problems.  Don't know if I would or wouldn't buy them again though.  I can't put any dishes in my dish washer with food on them and expect to pull it out clean (this is not a problem because I have a thing against that, but I hear other do that).  Microwave is fine but about average heating.  I do like the oven.  I'd probably do that again.  The stove is ceramic and I would do gas, and I would consider GE Profile for it too, among others.

Our previous place had all GE profile products in it and we had no issues with them for the 7 years we have lived there.

Our current place has Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and we have had a bunch of trouble with them.  I liked the GE stuff better.

Our house was was built in '04 w/Profile microwave, oven, stovetop, and dishwasher. All works great except the dishwasher. From the beginning it was noisy and didn't seem to do a great job. Pump started working intermittently in about '08. I could "kick-start" it by hitting the main power on the wall, but it seldom worked on the first try. Major PITA. I finally replaced the whole machine at the end of 2010.

We replaced the dishwasher w/a $600 Maytag and couldn't be happier. This is the 2nd time I've replaced a dishwasher in a house, and the 2nd time I felt like the builder couldn't have found a crappier unit to start off with.

I've had good experiences w/ GE appliances.  I can say that our last experience with a mounted Samsung microwave was not a good one, replaced with a GE model that has run flawlessly.

To be honest, I haven't been thrilled with ours but within the Profile range, there are different level models right?  We must have the most basic everything.  I think the dishwasher is very mediocre.  It does not wash well and I feel I am wasting gallons of water rinsing all the time.  Our microwave just stopped heating (our appliances are all about 3 years old) a couple of weeks ago.  I know it is going to cost a lot to fix but since it is a spacesaver, I really don't want to go to the effort of taking out the old and putting in a new.  So we bought a cheap bench top microwave to last until I can get around to getting the microwave fixed.  The fridge/freezer is OK.  Nothing fancy.  I hate the water dispenser because there is not a separate button for ice.  You have to select ice or water and if someone leaves it on the ice setting without me noticing, I end up dumping ice out all over the floor.  The oven has been impossible for me to figure out.  It seems that some days it cooks hot and some days cold.  If I know my oven is hot or cold, then I can adjust accordingly, but this one doesn't seem to be consistent.   I do like that they look nice.  I like the glass top because it is sooooo easy to clean.  I have no issues with the electric stove top and it is the first time I have used electric appliances since I moved out of my parents' home back in 1987.  My brother and his wife also have all Profile and theirs are slightly different from ours and seem to be better quality and functionality.  They love them.

I have the GE Cafe series dishwasher, refrigerator and Stove.  I purchased these items new about 3 years ago and have regretted it every since!  First, the gas burners would not light within two weeks of owning the stove.  The Ice machine in the refrigerator continually freezes, even though a service technician said we would no longer have a problem after the 'first' service.  The dishwasher filter system is weak!  I have to take it apart a couple times a year and clean out all the bits of food that get stuck in the jets.  Honesty, I have had nothing but problems with these and will never buy a GE appliance again.  Save yourself the headache and go with another brand!

Thanks for the feedback gang.  Far too many issues for me to be comfortable dropping the bucks on.  Thinking we are going to go with Maytag.
