This was where I went swimming last year, he's a really nice guy. He opens up his property to let you park on his lawn and the swim starts at his dock.

Best,

Awesome.  I will be staying 5 miles away from him....for a week at the end of May.  Then going on cruise.  Figured I could spin and run (treadmill) on the cruise but was concerned about no swimming for a week....I can swim every morning for the first week!

Any good running trails (paved) in the area?

When you swim at Lucky's lake, ask around. Probably 2/3 of the people who do the daily swim are triathletes.

Oh, sign his wall after your swim!

I'm curious.  Aren't alligators and water moccasins a problem there?

With one person, perhaps. I've never been to that swim with less than 10, though. I've heard tell of 20+ being there to swim. Critters tend to avoid crowds.

Oh, they've got buoys up now, that helps a lot with sighting

So swim half way and come back. This isn't a regimented swim just a bunch of people in it for fun.

The 1K does not have to be continuous.  Its 500m across and their is a shallow area you can catch your breath and regroup before swimming back.   Just don't do what I did this weekend, my goggles fogged and I started to sight using the closest person.  Before I knew it, I was 50-75m off course and the first half of the swim was 90s longer than the return.  In all fairness, the guy and I continued to trade positions the first half of the swim, it was the blind leading the blind.

They now have a photo-op to go along with signing the wall.  Lucky puts on a good show.

Timely thread. I'm going in June, so this place seems perfect. Thanks for asking the question!

I posted this in the 70.3 florida post..but is anyone concerned about the change in swim course for this race?  Apparently for shallow depth reasons they changed the swim pattern to a zig zag pattern.  Im concerned on how theyll conduct all the bodies in the middle portion of this race.

I just did made this swim this morning! Got to swim with Digger and everything. It was my first OWS ever and you couldn't ask for a nicer group of people. It was a Wednesday morning, so the group was maybe 30? not super large, I hear the Saturday morning swim gets pretty big at times, but it spreads out evenly and isn't a big deal.

Give me a minute to steal my wife's camera and I'll share some photos.

OK, a few pics. There are a few pictures of the lake and the sunrise. There's a picture of me signing the wall, there's even a picture of me swimming with Digger drafting like a good dog.

Awesome! I had every intention of going last Monday when I was in town, but the iPhone thought I wanted to get up at 5:30PM instead of AM. I'll have to give it a go the next time I'm in the area.
