Does anyone happen to know the distance for the buoys that are currently in place?  Or know some way to find out?  Just hoping someone might have swum recently with a garmin, etc.  Thanks!

They are usually set for a 500 meter swim from the beach out around 5 buoys and back to the beach.  That is how it is been for the last few years.  There is sometimes a buoy farther out by itself which one can use to make a 1000 meter swim.

The red buoy that is out there marks 250m; so 500 total if you swim around it and back (from the beach). The yellow buoys have moved a bit, so don't use those for any specific measurements.

By the way, anyone interested in the Lake Pflugerville Tri, make sure and get signed up! It has sold out every year...

Just to clarity, if you swim to the red buoy by way of the yellows (where the red is kind of making a peak on the top of a house shape) then it is a 500?  Or have the yellows also moved too far out or too far in?  Meaning the 500 is a straight shot out to the red and back?  I'm guessing it is the first one (around the yellows to the red), but just wanted to make sure.  Thanks!!

It's the first one (around the yellows); with the caveat that the yellows have moved around a bit. Either way, it will be pretty close to 500m. They will be set back in their rightful place well before the race: )

Any idea of the water temp.  Thing of doing the Five55 race as a small pre-race for my ironman.

It is perfect out.  I've been out there the last few weeks (no wetsuit) and am a baby with cold water, and am fine within 30 seconds.  Still a little cold when you are getting in, but great for swimming.
