I know some of you are heading into Spring Mill Pond this weekend but if anyone tries out Kent Lake I would love to know if it finally feels warm enough for some practice time.  Island Lake is in just over three weeks!

Hey, I'm doing that race, too. I'm starting to get nervous! Right now it says the temperature is 51, but throw in a couple more 90-degree days like yesterday and it won't be that bad.

Thanks for the website, this is something every triathlete should have bookmarked!

Hey, it's up two degrees to 51 after yesterday's scorcher!!!

I've monitored it in the past close to race days and the official race temps are usually a solid 5 degrees higher than what is posted on the site.  I wonder if that site measures the middle bottom of the lake.  Or, just wishful thinking on my part Smile

Voila, 56!  Good luck to all of you headed to Spring Mill for the first unofficial race of the season that I've been seeing posted here.  Wish I could join ya but the schedule would not allow for it.  It looks like you will have lovely and mild weather.  Enjoy!

Easily. I forgot to take a thermometer, but I was expecting a big thermal shock and it didn't seem any worse than getting into the pool at the gym. I also forgot a swim cap and don't own booties.  No big deal, really.  I'm going back in Saturday.

Zero2, my fiance and I will probably make a go of it for Kent Lake also on Saturday AM, a swim/run brick.  I'm not sure how early but if you're looking for some swim buddies, we can try to meet up with you.

If anyone else is interested, let me know!

I'm game if the timing works.  I have a long day out there and plans in the evening so I can't start too late.  Probably 9:30 at the latest...if you guys are out that early it'd be great to swim with you.

I'm also thinking about joining you Saturday, probably just for the swim, though. Currently making sure there's nothing else on the calendar for the morning.

Wonderful, I'm thinking 9:30 on the beach at Kent unless there are T-storms or a cold snap comes through.  It would be cool to meet some BT'ers!

I would like to come out swimming on Saturday. Probably not up for a swim with the big kids, but I need more time in the lake with my wet suit before June 3rd. Likely that I will only swim a few hundred yards close to shore and then float around until I am completely convinced that I can't possibly sink.

No worries... I just might be towing a big, inflatable rubber ducky to cling to.

We're happy to help you out and get you comfortable!  Last year was my fiance's first time with OWS and he was gripping a little.  After about ten minutes he was able to actually swim out away from shore for about 25 meters and turn back around without freaking out.  It helps to have other swimmers around!

Thanks, I look forward to the moral support. I did 1250 yards continuous swimming in the pool tonight. So the rational part of my brain knows I can do the swim for the tri's a signed up for. I just have to figure out how to keep the irrational part of my brain from messing me up.

Okay, trying to decide if I want to do the Island Lake tri... quite frankly, water temp will probably end up being the determining factor for me...  I know extended forecasts have their errors, but..... accuweather.com has the whole week leading up to the race as high temps in the 80s, lows mid-50s.  Based on that, any guesses as to what Kent Lake's water temp might be for the race?!

Last year the temps leading up to the race were generally not as high as they are this year, and I believe it the race day temp was high 60's.  We'll tell you how it feels after tomorrow!
