So yesterday was my second OWS this season.  The lake is cold, but not as cold as Couer d Alene will be.  I would guess about 58 degrees.  Full sleeve wetsuit, neoprene booties, and neoprene cap.  My issue is at first dizzyness, which can be a little bit typical of me and OWS but the new experience is that dizzyness is turning into feeling sick to the stomach, like I want to throw up.  Any guesses why?  Could it be  my ears being covered by the neoprene cap (which is new for me).  It hasn't been particially windy or anything.  I did have a swim once last year where I got a case of vertigo, but not this sick to the stomach thing.

Did you get water in your ears? I raced Coeur d'Alene last year, and I know if I have cold water hit my ear drum my stomach and head start spinning like a night of binge drinking. Try wearing some ear plugs and see if that helps.

Also, did you eat anything different that morning or the night before? Everyone has those days of feeling a bit sick.

I second the ear plug recommendation. A friend raced IMAZ in November. She had terrible vertigo in the practice swim before race day. Ear plugs did the trick.
