I don't know, I wish it were 1500m we need more longer races. there is one Olympic distance (Honolulu Triathlon) and this one on this island and tons of Sprints

This race has been around before the official "olympic" distance was determined.

Looking forward to my first destination triathlon.  I'm sure I already know the answer, but I wanted to confirm that wetsuits are not used for the swim portion.  The only reason I ask is that all the races here are wetsuit recommended.  But I do live in Canada....  It works great that I will have 3 weeks in Oahu prior to the race to train on the course.

Not sure if wetsuits are NOT allowed.  I've never used one, as the water here is always 75-79 degrees.  It's not a USAT race, so it's up to the RD if they are allowed.

Thansk Jason, It's not that I wanted to use one.  I was pretty sure the answer was no, but I just wanted to make sure before I flew to Hawaii and left mine at home in the basement.  My T1 should be a breeze not having to take off a wetsuit... Can't wait...

There's liitle information on the website regarding the schedule.  The few races I've seen/been to require the bike to be dropped of the night before.  Is this the case at Tinman?  As well, when and where is the race package pick-up?  Lastly, is there any sort of expo during the event?

The last time I did Tinman, there was no night before bike drop off. Transition opened at around 4am. I don't remember how far ahead of the race you needed to pick up the race packet. I would call The Bike Shop (http://www.tinmanhawaii.com/2012/contact-us) to find out. No expo (it's really a small local race).

Yup I doubt they will have a nice after party like after the Lavaman, free beer, burger lunch, and live bands. The Honolulu Triathlon didn't require overnight bike check in, and that race is a lot bigger than Tinman. I'm looking forward to Tinman though, more intimate local race. They will hopefully send an email soon about packet pickup or get it morning of.

Sounds good.. I have a another race on the 12th of Aug back in Victoria,Canada (Subaru Sooke International Triathlon), this will be a nice training race prior to really going for it back home.  Too bad about the no party thing... though I suppose I will have to work that evening.
